“Manx Mencap has been an invaluable source of support and friendship for us as a family.
Manx Mencap has provided our boy with a brilliant range of opportunities to make friends, have new experiences and have fun with other children in the same position: skating, sailing, climbing, horse riding, farm visits, theatre visits... we appreciate these activities so much.
It's great to attend activities as a parent, too: talking to other parents gives us an opportunity to moan, laugh and sympathise with people who really get what it's like to parent a child with special needs - and this can be a real lifeline at times.
The efforts that Manx Mencap goes to are clear. They are doing a brilliant job and we really appreciate their support.”

“I have 2 children, and Manx Mencap has given both children opportunities where they feel safe including Sailing for the Disabled, pony trekking, trips to the theatre, Art Adventures, summer picnics and many more but most importantly support and opportunities without judgement. Thank you so much to an amazing team.”

“Manx Mencap have given my family so many amazing experiences over the past two years. Since starting their Holiday Activity Scheme, my son has been able to build his confidence and risk-taking skills in a safe environment with other like-minded families at Lesters Yard. We’ve met amazing animals around the Island at Isle of Man Goats, farm tours with Farmer John and family at Knockaloe Beg Farm and Art Adventures, seeing dolphins with Sailing for the Disabled. So many amazing memories we have made as a family which would not have been possible without the amazing work Manx Mencap do!”

“I would like to express my deepest thanks to Manx Mencap for your hard work and dedication in bringing happiness to the lives of children with learning disabilities and with additional needs. The School Holiday Activity Scheme you have created is fantastic, it's a great help to us parents, and it has helped my daughter settle during the school breaks. My daughter, Ella, and her younger sister enjoy all the activities you organise, and they are looking forward to the upcoming activities. Well done”

“We would like to say a big thank you for all you do for all of our guys. Everyone in our house has enjoyed Ape Mann and The Venture Centre and have said they would love to do it again. The smiles on their faces after achieving things outside of their comfort zone is priceless.
As a service, the guys don’t receive much money and we really appreciate Manx Mencap making it possible for the guys to attend shows at The Gaiety as they otherwise wouldn’t be able to go. Our house is probably the first to sign up for any activity.
A big thank you to you all for doing an amazing job, and all the organising and fundraising.”

“Our son is in his early 20’s and he has really loved the activities with Manx Mencap. The weekly music session is a firm favourite and the Dragons Castle sessions too. He went on day trips to the Mooragh Park and Ape Mann and we go to the monthly Movie Nights at Centre 21. A highlight for us was the picnic at Silverdale which was without doubt the best afternoon out we have had.”
